This afternoon, Troy Police Chief John Tedesco swore in 10-year-old JP Honsinger as an Honorary Troy Police Officer.

JP has Niemann-Pick disease. It is a rare degenerative disease that affects his memory, balance, lungs, liver and causes delayed motor development and seizures.

JP was sworn in wearing a TPD uniform shirt and a Troy Police Badge that bears the words "Honorary" in place of numbers. After taking his oath, JP took a ride with his father in a Troy Police car.
