Nicki Minaj's Next Album Will Get Political: 'Things Have To Be Addressed'

After staying quiet on the subject for quite some time now, Nicki Minaj has finally shared an update on her next album, admitting that she'll address the chaos surrounding America's political landscape.

In her cover story for Dazed Digital, the hip-hop titan spoke about the follow-up to 2014's The Pinkprint, revealing that the LP will include talk of the current times. "Well... you know me," she said with a laugh. "Things have to be addressed, that's all I'll say. Things that have to be addressed have to be addressed, and I will figure out a way to address them – you know, without being disrespectful. I think there's room to have a respectful conversation, politically. I do think so."

Even though Minaj failed to offer any sort of timeline for the projection's completion, it appears she is confident in how the project will add to her legacy. "This era will be a billion times more epic than anything 'Anaconda' could have delivered," she boasted. "I think this era will definitely be the most memorable and the most impactful of my career yet."

Plus, she's intent on taking her time to use her voice to say whatever she wants. "That's always a breath of fresh air... everyone is so filtered these days. I'm just back to being reckless and being a Southside, Jamaica, Queens, New York rapper," she added.
