Estelle Harris, George's Mom on Seinfeld and Mrs Potato Head, Has Passed

Estelle Harris has died. The 93-year-old died of natural causes on Saturday night. Her son, Glen Harris, said, “Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”  Harris – who had more than a hundred acting credits over a 45-year career – was known for having a nasally, high-pitched voice that was instantly recognizable. She was best known for playing George Costanza’s mother on “Seinfeld.” Her TV son, Jason Alexander, immediately weighed in on Twitter. “One of my favorite people has passed – my tv mama, Estelle Harris,” he said. “The joy of playing with her and relishing her glorious laughter was a treat. I adore you, Estelle. Love to your family. Serenity now and always.”  Estelle was also known for providing the voice for Mrs. Potato Head in the “Toy Story” franchise. In addition, she made cameos on “Law & Order,” “Married ... With Children,” “Night Court,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Living Single,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “ER,” and “Futurama.”  She is survived by three children — Eric, Glen, and Taryn — three grandsons, and a great-grandson.
