Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Jenna and it's about weight loss. Here's her email: Hi Jaime, I'm looking for some real advice this morning. I have always been overweight basically my whole life. Well last year, I decided I was really going to try to get healthy. Now I always thought I looked okay, but since I've been eating right and exercising, I've lost about 35 pounds. I am now in the best shape of my life and I feel better. Though, I also felt pretty good before. I just know as I get older it's more and more important to stay healthy. Anyway, since I’ve lost the weight everyone who I haven’t seen in a while says to me “Wow I can’t believe how much weight you’ve lost” and "you look so much better." I’m starting to take offense to it. Why can’t people just say, “Hey you look great”? Instead, they always ask me how much weight I lost, and make me feel like I looked horrible before. Now I’m feeling like it’s an insult, not a compliment. Am I being crazy or am I being insulted? Thanks for the help ~ Jenna. I don't think Jenna is crazy. It's hard when you lose weight. People think they're being nice, but sometimes it comes off as insulting. In my opinion, saying you look nice is great, but getting into the weeds of it all, like how much weight you lost or saying you look better is a touch insulting. That's just my take as someone who has also had battles with weight. What do you think? Is Jenna being oversensitive. How would you handle this? Let's help her out and let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
