Today's social dilemma came about after seeing a news story about a man disciplining his son who was acting like a bully. I saw the story earlier this week, but on Tuesday, there was a BIG and sometimes loud discussion among my friends about how this dad punished his kid. Here's the story. Basically, the son, a ten year old boy, had been kicked off his school bus for three days because he was bullying other kids on the bus. So his dad decided to teach him a lesson. For those three days, he made his son run to school. The distance was a mile. One of the days, it rained and his dad didn't let up. His son ran (with his dad following in the car) all three days. Well, this has sparked all kinds of conversations, and the one I had with friends on Tuesday showed me how volatile it is. Some friends thought it was a good idea, but several others thought it bordered on child abuse. And the discussion got very heated. So I want to know what you think. You can check out the video below showing the punishment and the dad and child talking to Inside Edition about it. Me, I think it was a fine punishment. I have to admit, I never would have made my kid run in the rain cause I'm a sap, but running a mile to school for three days isn't a horrible punishment. When we were kids we ran ten times that every day. But others said it was waaay to harsh. So what do you think? Good parenting, or going to far? I really want to know what you think because like I said, whoever I talk to about it has a strong opinion. Let me know what you think on the 98-3 TRY Facebook page.
