Social Dilemma - Is It Okay to Cry at the Office?

Today's social dilemma is about something that I know happens fairly often, but gets a bad rap.  And it's crying at the office.  I had a big conversation about this yesterday at lunch with a bunch of my girl friends, because one of them was telling us a story about how she had cried at work the day before.  The group of us range in age from 29 to about 60.   And it was interesting how the opinions were different about crying in the office.   Most of the younger women thought it was fine to cry at work, while the older women thought it was absolutely wrong.  My personal opinion has changed.  When I was younger I thought it was absolutely horrible to cry at the office.  I thought it was a sign of weakness and no one would take me seriously if I did it.   However, now I think completely differently.   I think for women, a lot of time crying at work isn't about being sad, it's about being so frustrated there's no other way for that emotion to come out.   And that's exactly what happened with my friend.  So I told her I thought it was fine.   And that I've done it too.  Mostly because something has happened that has frustrated me.  I think there are some people who still don't get it, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it.  Now, don't get me wrong, if you're crying every day, then you might want to call your therapist, but crying every now and then, I think it's just fine.   And like I said, I've done it.  What about you? Have you ever cried at the office?  Do you think it's okay to do it or do you think you should NEVER cry at work?   Let me know what you think on the 98-3 TRY facebook page.
