Metal Band Donates $250,000 from "Zombie" Cover to Dolores O'Riordan Family

The metal band that was scheduled to collaborate with Dolores O'Riordan days before she died this past winter has reportedly donated $250,000 to The Cranberries singer's family.

Bad Wolves invited members of O'Riordan's family onstage during Tuesday night's show at New York City's Gramercy Theatre to present them with the big check.

"Today is a very, very special night because Dolores' family is here with us," said Bad Wolves frontman Tommy Vext from the stage. "And we want to present them with this check from the money that you guys spent on our version of this song."

Bad Wolves' cover of "Zombie," was released the week of O'Riordan's tragic death this past January. The cover hit number 1 in 17 countries, and reached certified gold status in the United States and the United Kingdom.

O'Riordan herself heard the cover before it was released and loved it so much she offered to add her own vocals to the mix. The band enthusiastically agreed, but O'Riordan was found dead in London just a day before she was scheduled to record.

After the news of the iconic alternative rock singer's death, Bad Wolves released their version in tribute to her, pledging to help O'Riordan's family as much as possible.

The band said at the time that getting O'Riodan's approval on the cover was "the greatest compliment" they could have received.
