NHL Player Jokingly Calls Out Referee Who Used Bad Language

Veteran NHL referee Wes McCauley was scolded by the captain of the Dallas Stars after he used some colorful language during game five of the Stars' playoff series against the Nashville Predators. McCauley was talking to Predators forward Filip Forsberg during a stoppage in play and told him: "I'm going to have a talk at the timeout. I've got one hundred f***ing things going on."

McCauley's comment was overheard by Stars captain Jamie Benn, who skated over and chastised McCauley for his choice of words.

"Your mother would be mad at you for those swear words," Benn told him. McCauley agreed with his assessment, telling him: "Yeah, you're right."

McCauley has always been an entertaining referee during his career, which has seen him officiate over 1,100 games. He is known for his dramatic announcements of penalty calls and the results of replay reviews.
