The Denver Broncos might make history as the first NFL team to have a Black owner.
The Denver Gazette reported there are six groups looking to take over ownership of the three-time Super Bowl champion team, including former NFL star quarterbacks Peyton Manning and John Elway and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Brittany Bowlen, a daughter of the late Broncos owner Pat Bowlen is also ready to place a bid on the team, Front Office Sports reported.
The purchase would be personal for Smith, who grew up in Denver. A recent evaluation of Smith's assets puts him at a net worth of $6.7 billion, which surpasses some NFL team's entire finances, meaning he could very easily place a bid on the franchise.
You might recall that Robert Smith made headlines in 2019, after announcing that he'd pay off the student loans of the entire graduating class at Morehouse College during a commencement speech that year. The surprise $34 million pledge brought national recognition to the Vista Equity Partners founder and CEO.
