Social Dilemma-Do You Wash The Meat You Buy To Eat???

Today's social dilemma came from a conversation that I had with my neighbor yesterday.  I was out in front with Leo because it was too hot to take him for a proper walk, so we were just milling about between two or three houses, and my neighbor, Barbara who lives a few houses down was doing the same with her pup.   So we stopped and we were chatting with each other for a bit, and I said, it's perfect hot dog weather, but it's too hot to grill them so I'm going to cook them inside.  And she said, that she was going to have pork chops and had to go home and wash the meat so she could get ready to cook it.  I laughed because I thought she was joking.  I said, you're not really gonna wash your pork chops are you, and she said of course.  I wash all the meat I buy before cooking it.  I asked about steak, and she said yep.   I said I only washed chicken before I cooked it.  Everything else I just cook.  She said, nope you're supposed to wash all of it before cooking it.  I truly had never heard this, so I thought I would ask you.  Do you wash pork chops and steak before cooking it?   Or do you only wash chicken like me?  Please let me know.  I really had never heard of this before.   Let me know what you think on the 98-3 TRY facebook page.
