Fleetwood Mac is set to kick off their new tour this week in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and new member Mike Campbell reveals that the band will pay tribute to Tom Petty during their set, with a performance of “Free Fallin’.” Apparently Campbell, a member of The Heartbreakers, was persuaded to play the tune at the request of Stevie Nicks. “Stevie wanted to do that one,” Campbell tells “Rolling Stone.” “I love that song, but I’ve just played it so much. I said to her, ‘Do we have to?’ She said, ‘The crowd will love it. It’ll be a moment.’ So I’m getting into it again.” Campbell also recalls getting the offer to join Fleetwood Mac, which was a total surprise to him. “I thought I’d never play big gigs again. I thought I’d never be on the G4 [private jet] again, and I’d never again play the Forum,” he says. “Then all of a sudden, I’m like, How did this happen?’”
Fleetwood Mac will be playing the Times Union Center on March 20th when we'll be able to hear all the classics along with their tribute to Tom Petty!
