Our social dilemma came about today because I was having this conversation with my with coworkers yesterday in the lunchroom. I feel like we have this chat almost every year. We were talking about Christmas gifts and how sometimes it's really hard to find the perfect gift. And sometimes, there's just not enough time in the day to get the perfect gift. So I said I'm a big fan of giving gift cards for Christmas. First off, I love getting them, so I'm going off that and guessing that others love getting them too. Plus it allows someone to really go get something they really want instead of me trying to pick out the perfect gift and getting it all wrong. One of my coworkers agreed with me 100%, while several others said no way...too impersonal, and that they're offended if they get a gift card because they think it's a lazy way out. I said no way, I think it's very thoughtful. But they wouldn't budge. In fact, several said buy a gift or nothing at all. So I ask you. Do you think it's okay to give a gift card as a Christmas gift?
