Yesterday when I heard that Gloria Vanderbilt had passed away, the first thing I thought about was jeans. Don't get me wrong, I know that Ms. Vanderbilt lead an extraordinary life. One that was in the public eye from the time she was a child. She was an artist, philanthropist, mother, wife, heiress and more, but the first thing I thought of was the jeans. See back in the early 80's if you didn't have a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, you didn't have jeans. EVERYONE was wearing them, on TV, in the movies and yes in the nightclubs. And when I was 18, that's where you would find me, in the clubs. Whether it was Sneaky Petes, Rafters, Cahoots, or any one of the many other dance clubs in the area, I was there......in my Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. Now I've always been short, and while I was much thinner when I was 18, it was still hard to find the perfect clothes to wear, but Gloria Vanderbilt made the jeans that fit. She made everyone look good in those jeans with her name embroidered on the back and the swan on the front right pocket. I had a lot of fun in those jeans. And I felt like I looked good in them too. So Gloria Vanderbilt should be honored for lots of reasons, but let's not forget the jeans. Did you have a pair? Let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
