Shonda Rhimes, the producer of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal, just hired Mary Poppins to be part of her latest soapy drama. Netflix announced yesterday that Julie Andrews will join Shonda's new show Bridgerton, in the role of a "mysterious sharp-tongued gossip writer who uses a mix of social commentary and scathing insult" to cause problems in wealthy circles around London in the early 1800's. This sounds like it's going to be really good. It's based on the novels of the same name by Julia Quinn. As of right now, Netflix will produce the show with eight one hour episodes set in high society London way back in the day. It follows the Bridgerton family as they search for romance, adventure and love. It sounds like Downton Abbey with some soap thrown in! I'm all in for this! What about you? Let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
The untitled Bridgerton series will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2020.
