We found out earlier this month that The Cher Show, the Broadway musical about Cher and her music was set to close in August. While that's sad, we now have something else to look forward to in NYC. Neil Diamond is the latest star to inspire a Broadway musical. A new musical featuring Diamond’s biggest hits, and telling his story is being produced by Ken Davenport and Bob Gaudio, and they are going to bring it to the Great White Way. The musical, to be directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (“Spring Awakening”), will feature classic songs from Diamond’s catalog, which could include anything from “Cracklin’ Rosie” to “Sweet Caroline,” to “America,” to “Yesterday’s Songs.” “I’ve always loved Broadway,” Diamond said in a statement. “The inspiration for many of my early songs came from shows like ‘West Side Story,’ ‘My Fair Lady,’ and ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ so it seems only fitting to bring my songs to The Great White Way. I’m honored and excited to be working with this great team.” I would be all over this show! I'm a big Neil Diamond fan and I think this would be great! And he's had such an interesting life that there is so much material to choose from. Is this a show you would want to see? Let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
