Social Dilemma-Should I Have Found Another Seat on the Plane?

Today's social dilemma has to do with something that happened to me when I was flying out on my vacation last week. I wanted to bring it up as a social dilemma mainly because I wanted to know if you thought I did the wrong thing in a particular situation that happened on the plane. I always second guess myself in these kinds of situations so coming to you always feels like the right move. I want to know what you would have done. Okay, let me get to it. I'm a nervous flyer, so when I fly Southwest, which is most of the time, I always pay the little extra to be in the A group to get on the plane. At least then I know I won't be all the way in the back of the plane which scares me the most. And of course, the seats I'm always hoping for are the exit row. With my arthritis the extra leg room is nice, and I ALWAYS pay attention to the flight attendants so I believe I would be ready for any kind of emergency that happened. Anyway, As we're getting on the plane, we see that there is a gentleman sitting in the aisle seat of the emergency row, but the middle seat and window seat were empty. With the emergency row, I'm more than happy to take the middle seat, so I asked him kindly, are those two seats taken. He ignored me. I asked again, and he looked up at me and said, I was hoping to work with this empty seat next to me. I said, you can still work, I won't bother you, I'll have my headphones on and so will my sweetie. He said he couldn't work without the free seat next to him. I said, I was sorry, but with my arthritis I would like to sit in the emergency row. He slammed down his computer and said, this is ridiculous and got up and left. I asked him if he was still going to sit there, and he said he didn't know. So I just took the middle seat and my sweetie took the window seat and left that seat empty. Ultimately someone else sat down. But I have been rethinking it ever since. It wasn't a full flight. There were going to be 14 empty seats. Should I have just let him have the emergency row? Or do you think it was okay that I moved into it. Please let me know what you think on the TRY Facebook page.
