Kelly McGillis Will NOT Be A Part of Top Gun 2!

I know a lot of people have been looking forward to the sequel to Top Gun. That movie was HUGE in 1986! You couldn't escape it. And the quote, "I feel the need, the need for speed" has never gone away. But the thing I most remember about the movie was the love story between Tom Cruise's Maverick and Kelly McGillis' Charlie. Well, it looks like we won't see any of that in the new film. Kelly McGillis revealed the other day that she was not even asked to be a part of the film. Granted she has taken a bit of a break from acting to raise her children and to get sober, but she has done some roles recently so I'm guessing it's something she could have worked out. But Kelly says she never got the phone call. And still hasn't. So as of right now, she won't be invited to any big premieres either. Jennifer Connolly has stepped in for Top Gun 2: Maverick as Tom Cruise's love interest, which is fine, but I also think it would have been nice to see Kelly in the movie, even in a small role.
