We've all been following Alex Trebek for a long time. Let's face it, he's been doing Jeopardy for over 35 years and we love him. There's no one like him, and a lot of us, myself included, make Jeopardy appointment TV. Well, as we've been praying for Alex to beat the pancreatic cancer he told us about over a year ago, Alex knows that there's a chance that he may not be able to. Recently he gave an interview where he talked about stepping down from hosting Jeopardy. He said he wants to leave when his skills diminish. And he notices that his skills are starting to diminish. He added, quote: "I talk to the producers about this all the time now, I said, 'Look, I'm slurring my words, my tongue doesn't work as well as it used to.' The chemo has caused sores inside my mouth. It makes it difficult for me to speak and enunciate properly. They say, 'Well, we don't notice,' [and] I say, 'I notice those things.' "I'm sure there are observant members of the television audience who notice also, but they're forgiving." (To see Alex say that for himself, skip ahead to 9:30 in the interview above.) I feel like Alex is trying to set us up for what may be the inevitable, but I'm still praying and hoping that Alex will get better and we'll have him with us for many years to come to ask us those Jeopardy "answers"
