The new Fall TV season is only about a month old and already we have our first casualties. Sadly, networks sometimes just don't give shows a chance to find an audience anymore. If that had happened back in the day, we never would have had Cheers, Seinfeld or the X-Files, all shows that did horribly in their first season. Times have changed though so now we have our first cancellations of the Fall season. First up is Sunnyside on NBC. It's a show about a NYC Councilman who finds his calling when he tries to help immigrants coming to America. I thought it was a funny show. Not fantastic, but not horrible. Well, it doesn't matter because it's already been cancelled. Say goodbye to Sunnyside. The second show that is set to go is another NBC show, Bluff City Law. This is the show that starred Jimmy Smits as head of a law firm that takes on cases where the justice system seems to be failing people. It was also a family drama as Jimmy's character and his daughter were estranged but she agrees to come back and work for him. I though the show had potential. It was a quiet show, but definitely interesting. Well, NBC has stopped the order of any new episodes, so the ten shows that were already produced will air, but that will be the end of Bluff City Law.
On the upside, the show Prodigal Son, which I think is really good, is doing gangbusters and is almost a sure bet to be renewed for a second season. Those are the updates for now.
