I just had to take a moment today to recognize my incredible mother. My mom, Bridget, is celebrating her 90th birthday today! If you've never heard me talk about my mom, let me tell you just a little bit about her. She was born and raised in Troy. She is first generation American as her parents, my grandparents, came through Ellis Island from Italy. My mom is a skilled seamstress, however, with the loss of some of her eyesight due to macular degeneration, she has had to stop sewing, but she can tell you exactly what to do if you're sewing something. Mom has had some rough times with the loss of my dad, her husband Jim, and the loss of my brother, her youngest son, Robbie. But my mom's faith has always gotten her through. She'll be quick to remind you that today is not only her birthday, it's the Blessed Mother's birthday as well. My mom has a busier social life that I do...than I ever have. Pre-Covid, she was out five nights a week with her friends, either playing Texas Hold 'Em, other card games, Bingo, Bocce and more. And while having to stop most of that due to Covid, she has maintained a positive outlook and is sure we will come through this sooner rather than later. She says we have to because she's tired of being home and wants to get back out there and have fun with her friends again. My mom is amazing. She looks beautiful, and she is beautiful inside and out. I know how blessed I am, how blessed my whole family is, to have her with us. So today we honor her on her 90th birthday!!! I swear she'll outlive all of us!!! Happy Birthday Mom, I love you!!
