Sad news this morning. Helen Reddy, the 70's pop superstar, who sang an anthem for a generation has passed away at the age of 78. Helen became a feminist icon when she sang the song, I Am Woman, but then went on to many hits after that, including Delta Dawn, Leave Me Alone, Ruby Red Dress, Angie Baby, You and Me Against the World and more. The song I Am Woman did become the unofficial anthem of the women's movement and is still played at marches to this day. Helen won a Grammy for the song. Of course, she also ended up on both the big screen and little screen in Disney's Pete's Dragon, and in Airport 1975. She had her won weekly television show in the early 70's too.
