I just love this idea! If you want to let kids and families know that your home is Covid safe for Halloween, put a purple pumpkin out on your step or porch! Seeing a purple pumpkin will show that the house is a safe spot to grab some candy. This is an idea that started on Long Island and is spreading across the State. I think it's GREAT! Basically it means that the person opening the door will be wearing a mask, is making sure to hand out individually wrapped candies and is making sure all sanitary conditions are in place. If you don't want to go out and buy a purple pumpkin somewhere, no worries, you can print out a picture of a purple pumpkin and hang it on your door. Now keep in mind that social distancing is still the most important thing. Halloween masks don't count as Covid masks, so you should have a mask on under your mask if you know what I mean. Also if you can find a way to hand out the candy, either with one of those "grabbers" from afar, or by putting the bowl out and asking each person to just take one, that would be best. Remember even if you feel fine, Covid carriers can be asymptomatic so social distancing is most important. So put out your purple pumpkin, put on your mask, get your candy ready and have a safe and fun Halloween!
