Have You Ever Screwed Up A Recipe So Bad It Tasted Horrible?I Did Yesterday

Please tell me I'm not alone in this. Yesterday I screwed up my toll house cookie bar recipe so badly I had to throw out the whole pan and start over. Let me explain. I work better alone in the kitchen. I like to really pay attention to what I'm doing because I really enjoy cooking and baking. Anyway, yesterday was such a dark rainy day that I though a nice pan of toll house cookie bars would be perfect. So I set out to making them. And then my mom came into the kitchen. Now you know I love my mom, but she loves to talk. So while I'm talking with her, I'm also trying to make my toll house cookie bars from scratch. I'm going along and I mix up the recipe and put them in the pan and into the oven they go. Halfway through the cooking process, I always take out the pan and slam it on the counter to make the bars more dense. We like them that way. Anyway, I do all that and the house smells good and I can't wait to have some of these cookies. And neither can my mom or Diane. So I take them out, let them cool for a few minutes and dive in. They were disgusting. My mom spit hers out and Diane wouldn't even try them And after a few minutes of trying to figure out why, I got it. I mixed up the sugar and salt portions of the cookies. I put in a LOT of salt and just a little bit of sugar. Suffice it to say the cookies were awful. So I threw out the pan while my mom and Diane mocked me. I can take it. But I felt like the cats and dog were mocking me too. That was upsetting :) Anyway, I ultimately made another pan and they came out great, but please tell me I'm not the only person who's ever done this.
