We all love the holiday TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas. And we all love that the point of the story is that that true meaning of Christmas isn't about commercialism and consumerism, but of the birth of Christ. But did you know that the show itself was created by a corporation?!?! Yeah it's true. Back in the 60's when the Peanuts comic strip was incredibly popular, Coca Cola commissioned and sponsored the special. And originally, it was pretty clear that Coke had a hand in it. The footage, which had been lost up until this point, shows an extended scene at the beginning and a graphic at the end all pointing to Coca Cola. You can see both of those scenes below. Of course, back in the day, corporations used to sponsor TV shows all the time. Those days are gone and so the scenes were cut, but now you can see them again below. Do you wish they left in the Coca Cola references or are you glad they're gone? I love a Coke now and then, but I'm glad they're gone. What about you?
