This song has such an interesting history. Sheriff was a Canadian rock band. They released this song in Canada in 1983 and it was a big hit. At the same time they released it here in the U.S. and it went nowhere. The band broke up in 1986, but in 1989, the song was re-released in the U.S. and it went all the way to number one. The band came together a few times to sing the song for promotional appearances but ultimately they stayed broken up. Several members then formed the band Alias. It's a beautiful song. Check it out
