The Beach Boys are celebrating their 60thanniversary next year, and it sounds like there’s a chance the group could be getting together for some sort of tour to mark the occasion. “I do believe we will. Well, not a tour. We’ll hit some very important … 10 or 20 areas of the world,” Al Jardine tells “Rolling Stone.” “Who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky and have a renaissance, and present some of this great material again. It’s difficult to say, but it makes sense. I know there’s something in the works. I just can’t tell you when or where.” After a 50thanniversary celebration in 2012 the Beach Boys went their separate ways, with Mike Love and Bruce Johnston touring under the Beach Boys name and Jardine joining Brian Wilson’s band. Remember that show at SPAC? It was amazing. The Beach Boys sounded fantastic and it ended up being one of if not the best show of the year. We would love to have them come back post Covid and celebrate 60 with us!! Al adds that there’s also the possibility of a TV special to mark the anniversary. “We’d like to explore that possibility,” he says. “It’s always good to be able to look forward to something positive now,” he adds, “especially coming out of this horrendous year, to bring some beautiful, fresh, positive music to the world again.”
