Okay some good news about Grace and Frankie first: As we talked about last week, Lily Tomlin recently said she and Jane Fonda hoped to finally get their “9 to 5” co-star Dolly Parton to join them on their Netflix series “Grace & Frankie.” Well it looks like it may finally happen. During an appearance on the UK show “Lorraine,” Dolly seemed to confirm that she will indeed be doing the show, which is coming up on its final season. "I've been trying to do ‘Grace & Frankie; for years," Dolly says. "We worked so well together on 9 to 5, it's a crazy wonderful show." She adds, “We've been trying to write me in somehow. So when it's safe for us to actually do a production when they're back, I'll probably get around to doing that."
And now new Sex & the City news about the reboot: Samantha Jones may have been a big part of “Sex and The City,” but thanks to a real-life riff between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, she won’t be on the rebooted version. So how will her absence be explained? Since “And Just Like That…” is less like a rehash and more like a continuation of the ladies’ friendship, they’re going to handle it like real life According to HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys, “Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave. Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.” She then went on to make a very good point – “They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York…and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.” Even though Kim won’t be back, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will join SJP, who’ll also be executive producing the series. Production is scheduled for later this spring.
