Legendary “Today” weatherman Willard Scott has passed away at 87.Al Roker has confirmed the sad news of the TV veteran’s death, revealing he passed Saturday morning while surrounded by family. Scott has been putting smiles on “Today” viewers’ faces since 1980, known for his fun gimmicks… like dressing up in costumes and wishing happy birthday to fans turning 100. He began his 65-year career with NBC in 1950, appearing on screen as a wide range of eccentric characters – including his stint as the first Ronald McDonald in the 60s! Scott semi-retired in 1996 and was replaced on “Today” by Al Roker, officially retiring from TV in 2015. During “Today’s” tribute to the late anchor, Roker said seeing Scott on TV was what inspired his own career. Scott is survived by his wife Paris, and daughters Sally and Mary. He’ll certainly be missed.
We also got the tragic news about actor Michael K. Williams. He passed away yesterday in New York City at the age of 54. While Williams is best known for his role as Omar on HBO's "The Wire," the Brooklyn native is a five-time Emmy nominee, starring in series including "Boardwalk Empire" and "Lovecraft Country" as well as films including "Assassin's Creed" and "12 Years a Slave." He was such a great actor, and always seemed like a really interesting man. He will be missed.
