Well this is a story about the Beatles we haven't heard before, but we'll probably hear more things like this once the new docuseries about them comes out next month. Eric Clapton could’ve been one of The Beatles. A newly unearthed tape from the band’s “Let It Be” sessions reportedly reveals John Lennon suggested replacing George Harrison with Eric. The audio clip allegedly features John talking to Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about George’s temporary exit from the band in January 1969. At the time, George felt like his contributions were being overshadowed, and left the Beatles to visit his mother in Liverpool. He ended up returning six days later. While John empathized, it looks like he was already thinking about a potential replacement. John allegedly said George's attitude was "a festering would. We allowed it to go deeper and we didn’t even give him any bandages. I think if George doesn’t come back by [next week] we ask Eric Clapton to play.” Now apparently these tapes (there were 80 hours of audio and 50 hours of video) will be part of the new docuseries from Peter Jackson called The Beatles: Get Back which is hitting Disney + on November 25th. I can't wait to watch!!
