Meet Shakira from MHHS and Get an Update on Sweet Deniro!

We have a beautiful girl from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society as our Pet of the Week. Meet Shakira, 2.5yo domestic shorthair, who is almost 14 pounds! Shakira came to MHHS in November 2021. She was in a home that wasn’t right for her or her owner. Shakira is what we call a Spirit Cat here at MHHS. She much prefers the company of other kitties to humans. Although recently she has begun to show interest in humans, she still may never be a lap cat. She is very social and affectionate with other cats, and even if she’s not in your space, you know she’s keeping tabs on what is going on around her. She would do best in a home with other cats, and with people who understand and respect boundaries. . Click here to find out more about Shakira and how to adopt her!

And we've all been following the story of little Deniro. Deniro was found in Troy behind a gas station with multiple injuries. We are trying to find out how this happened and/or who could have dumped him. We typically do not send out information regarding animals that aren’t available, but we are still looking for anyone with information. Deniro is doing much better. He made it through a 6.5-hour surgery on Friday, and has been healing in a doting foster home ever since. The community has come out to rally behind Deniro, raising enough money to cover his surgery on Friday and multiple follow-ups. We are so grateful for the community, and again, if anyone has any tips, please let us know. 518-434-8128, ext: 203

And don't forget about the Mohawk Hudson's Society Pet Pantry. If you're having trouble feeding your pet, let the MHHS help you...it's all free of charge. Find out more here.

And check this out! Thanks to an incredible grant, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is able to offer low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for cats and dogs for FREE with a one-time non-refundable $10 deposit. That’s right, only $10! This pricing is only available as long as there are funds for this grant, so it will not last forever! Just click here for information
