Meet Hemmit, Our Handsome Pet of the Week From MHHS!

Meet Hemmit, a 3yo pit mix from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. This is his bio, as told to his foster mom: Hemmit, Hemmerson, Hemmie-no matter what you call me, if you've got snacks then I'll be your best bud. I can be cautious at first, so please be patient while I warm up. Once I've decided you're in my circle, I want to be next to you. All. The. Time. I would do best in a quiet home without a lot of hustle and bustle. A lot of things are new to me and I need help learning how to manage that big ol' world out there. I am working with my foster mom on how to do doggy things like potty training and crate training. I'm already a really great snuggler. She says I'm a smart boy so I'm picking up fast. I love to learn and know a lot of commands like "sit", "touch", "paw", "down" and am working on "stay". I would love to be a part of a family who can continue to build my confidence with some obedience classes and teach me about many of the other great things in life. When I get overwhelmed, or am unsure about something new, I look to my human friends to tell me what to do. They tell me that is a pretty awesome quality because I am checking in with them for guidance and leadership. Those who know me best think I would really blossom in a calm and structured household, one with a family who can commit to taking it slow while helping me figure out our new life together. I'm not sure how I feel about other animals right now. If you'd like to learn more about my studly self- reach out to my foster mom at: dshears@mohawkhumanesociety.org Click here to find out more from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society
