Meet Nana, a six year old Hound mix from the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Nana is looking for a special home. Nana is a survivor from a meat farm, and those emotional scars do not close quickly. Let’s start with how she was when we first were introduced to her. Nana was terrified. She wouldn’t leave her crate, and had to be carried around in it to go anywhere. Her foster mom took her home and laid on the floor on the other side of the x-pen to help her learn that people aren’t scary. Nana slowly made progress, and has since blossomed into a cautious, sweet, silly girl. Nana LOVES other dogs, and is more confident when she’s around them. She is a big fan of walks, hikes, and snow, and she seems up for lots of adventures. When we first met Nana, we couldn’t even get her to wear a collar. She now loves getting leashed up to go with her canine friends on walks in parks, in the woods, or romping around a yard. Nana would do best in a home with another dog, but we think little kids may be a bit unpredictable in their movements and may be took much for her.
