Pick Me Up: Woman Donates Her Kidney to A Stranger to Save His Life!

This is an amazing Pick me Up Story that will make you feel good about life! For the last 15 years, Mark has been living with an autoimmune disease that attacks his kidneys. All those years, he was basically fine, but in 2020 his health took a turn for the worse. “I found out I was in end-stage renal failure,” Mark recalls. “My health was declining bad.” When medication failed to get his kidneys functioning properly, Mark started dialysis three times a week for four hours each day. While on dialysis, he met lots of people in the same situation as him and he started to notice that some of them didn’t survive. He became concerned that he might suffer the same fate, so he joined the waiting list for a new kidney. With his health deteriorating quickly, Marks family pleaded on social media for help finding a donor and that’s when Heather saw the post. Heather, who lives more than an hour from Mark and didn’t know him, had been considering becoming a living donor for some time. She’d lost her dad at a young age and didn’t want Mark's family to have to go through that. Even before she was tested, Heather just knew that she would match with Mark, and she was right. In January, the pair had a successful transplant surgery and within a few days, Mark felt back to normal. The pair have become good friends, talking or texting daily. He calls her his hero and says that without her, he probably wouldn’t be around today.
