If you lived in the Capital Region in the 70's 80's, 90's and the first decade of the 2000's, then you know who Ken Screven is. Ken was a longtime reporter for WRGB, and he sadly passed away at the age of 71 after a long battle with illness. I knew Ken back in the day. He was kind but very serious about his work. Ken was also a trailblazer. He was the first black man to work in local news here in the area. He always went after the story and did everything he could to get it. And he had an amazing voice. Ken was excellent at his job and was a good man. He will be missed. The Vice President of WRGB CBS 6 News put out this statement: “We are saddened today to learn of Ken Screven’s passing. Mr. Screven was one of the most influential local journalists of our time, and we are grateful that he was a part of the WRGB CBS 6 News family for so many years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ken’s family and friends.” VINCE NELSON, VP & GENERAL MANAGER WRGB I'm glad I got to know Ken. Godspeed Ken, you'll be missed.
