Well this is a sad way to start the season in Lake George. While many businesses were opening for Memorial Day in anticipation of what will be a busy season in the Village, the iconic Howard Johnson's Restaurant, the last one of it's kind, did not. The restaurant is now up for lease. Keep in mind it's been open in Lake George for the past 70 years, and while other Howard Johnson's locations continued t to close around the country, ours in Lake George was always there, open and ready for business. I can remember going to Lake George as a kid with the family and always stopping at HoJo's for a meal. And now as an adult, we would still stop there for tradition's sake. Plus we were proud to have the only surviving HoJo's in the country. But sadly now it is up for lease. The reality company says there is some interest, but no word on whether or not whoever does end up leasing it will keep the Howard Johnson's name. I hope they do. HoJo's, you'll be missed.
