Today's Pick Me Up is just beautiful! Back in 1942, The Buffalo Bisons (the Triple A minor league team of the Toronto BlueJays) recruited a promising young shortstop to try out for their team. But that shortstop, Roy Kinyon had to say no because he was going to enlist in the Navy and serve in WWII. Well, on Monday, Roy will finally get his shot. Roy is 100 years old and the Buffalo Bison have signed him to a one day contract for the Fourth of July, honoring him 80 years after they first asked him to join the team. So on Monday, Roy will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and be honored as an American hero, and a shortstop in the game he loved to play. When he was playing at Barker High School, Roy had a .741 batting average, and lead his team to an undefeated record. Pretty amazing. I'm so glad Roy will finally get his chance to be on the field!
