Looks like Hollywood is returning to the Capital Region this weekend as filming on the second season of The Gilded Age is set to begin. The production has already started bringing equipment into Troy for filming, but don't expect to see them around Monument Square like they filmed last year. This time, in Troy, they'll be starting out filming an Easter Service in 1883 at the First United Presbyterian Church on Fifth Avenue. So expect to see lots and lots of flowers being delivered to the church over the course of the week. The actual filming of the scene takes place on Friday if all goes according to plan. Other filming sites in Troy include Third Street opposite Washington Park and Second Street near the Troy Public Library. Unfortunately, as I mentioned they won't be back around Monument Square and River Street, which I'm a little disappointed about. I loved how they changed the storefronts and put dirt on the streets to make it look like NYC in the late 1800's.
Following the filming in Troy, they'll start filming in Albany the second week of August around Albany's Washington Park, and then for the rest of the month in Cohoes at Harmony Mills and the Cohoes Music Hall. So Hollywood is back in town, so be prepared for road closures and excitement as filming begins once again. I love it. What about you?
