What a GREAT Pick Me Up! Imagine loving your job so much that you spent 70 years doing it with no intention of retiring anytime soon. Well that's Johnnie Bell. Johnnie is the longest tenured Post Office employee in the nation. This past week Johnnie celebrated 70 years on the job as a letter carrier. Johnnie said he continues to do the job because "I enjoy doing it." When Johnnie started the job, his pay was $1.81 an hour. Thankfully it's gone up since then. Julie his coworker said about Johnnie, ""He is truly a public servant. He has an opportunity every day to interact with customers, which he thoroughly enjoys."
I just love this story. I had such a great relationship with my letter carrier Crystal until she retired earlier this year, and now I'm starting a new relationship with Darrin my new letter carrier. Congratulations to Johnnie! Keep on delivering!
