It truly is the end of an era in Watervliet as a restaurant that has been open for 50 years is closing it's doors for good. The Purple Pub on Cohoes Road in Watervliet is closing as of December 30th for ever. This was the Pub's 50th year. The two brothers who own and run the restaurant said, it's just time. Time to spend more time with family and friends and time to take care of their own health. They are so grateful for everyone who ate at the Purple Pub over the years.
I have to say, I spent a good deal of my teen and early 20 years at the Purple Pub. It was definitely a go-to place for me and my friends. We were there almost every week. And then as I got older, I would go with my family and coworkers. We always had such a great time there. We were always treated so well, and the food, well, the food was absolutely delicious. The Purple Pub will definitely be missed.
One piece of good news...Purple Pub's To-Go will stay open after the restaurant closes, at least for the time being.
