There's some big food news here in the Capital Region that I wanted to tell you about. First, let's go with new restaurants that have opened or are opening. At Crossgates Mall in the Food Court, there's the new Kanes Hot Dogs! I'm a hotdog lover so knowing there's a specialty hotdog place always makes me happy. Kane's has interesting topping for their hotdogs like bacon, mac and cheese and more. They opened about a month ago.
Opening sometime this Spring on Central Avenue in Colonie will be a new chain from New York City and Philadelphia called Tex's Chicken and Burgers. It will be located across from Car Max on Central. And just like it's name, it will specialize in all different kinds of chicken sandwiches, with all kinds of spiciness levels, and of course, a burgers. Who doesn't love a great burger?
And the last piece of food news is saying goodbye to a restaurant that has been part of the NYS Thruway for over ten years, and that's McDonalds. Up until January 1st when you stopped at a rest area on the Thruway, chances are you were going to get some food from the Golden Arches. Well, their contract with the Thruway expired at the end of 2022, so now we can look forward to other kinds of restaurants opening in their place. So far, places like Chick Fil-A and Shake Shack have been mentioned. We'll keep an ear out for more news and let you know.
