Sad news to tell you about this morning. The great Tony Bennett has passed away. Tony Bennett was a masterful singer. The man could make a song his own like no other. And he also knew how to appeal to people young and old alike. He became popular singing the American songbook and was a superstar. In the 80's, he became a hit with the MTV generation, and in the 2000's, his collaborations with Lady Gaga made him a hit all over again. I can remember my dad taking me to see Tony Bennett and falling in love with his style and his sense of humor. I can even remember going to Korvettes (remember that place in Northway Mall) to meet him when I was just a kid. I'm grateful to my dad for turning me on to such an amazing singer. He will be missed. May Tony rest in peace.
