Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Robert and it's about work. Here's his email: Hi Jaime. If you’ve caught your boss in a lie…how long do you let it slide before calling him out on it? Over the last week, my supervisor has been laying the groundwork to prepare all of us underlings for there being no bonuses this Christmas because of the budget. What he doesn’t know is that the budget is there for everyone to see…if you know where to look in the corporate files. Not only is the money there…just like it was last year…but the supervisors and their bosses are all getting the same bonuses they received last year. As word starts to trickle around, you can feel the tension in the office growing about it. I might get fired for speaking up, but I feel like it would not only be worth it…but the right thing to do. Would you go to the boss first, would you just tell everyone else? What should I do? Thanks ~ Robert. This is hard because it is one of those situations where you could end up losing your job. But I think I would go to the boss first and let him know that the budget is there for everyone to see, so don't start the holiday season by lying. It depends on how important the job is.
