Social Dilemma: Is Pre-ordering Thanksgiving Restaurant Food Cheating?

Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Thomas and it's about Thanksgiving. Here's his email. Hi Jaime. I'm in a little trouble with my family but I don't think I should be. I fully admit that my wife and I are masters of our own convenience…and have no problem admitting that there are things professionals can do much better than us. Thanksgiving is one of them. We have a decently sized home, so we have been asked to host Thanksgiving this year. We are happy to do it, and figured we would just put in a pickup order to our local restaurant that is doing Thanksgiving, and wah-laa…dinner is served. Well, word got out about our plan, and now I’m being accused of “taking the lazy way out.” I figure that – 1) I’m a lousy cook (my wife isn't much better), 2) We already have to clean the place, get it looking nice for family, and take care of the hosting duties, 3) it’ll probably end up being cheaper in the long run, and 4) if they think it's “lazy,” then why aren’t they hosting? I think this is pragmatic…it is really that lazy and should we be shamed over it? Thanks for the help ~ Thomas. I don't think Thomas should be shamed. I think it was nice of him and his wife to offer to host. If the others don't like where the food is coming from, each of them can bring a dish. That's my take anyway. What do you think? Let's help Thomas out and let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
