Social Dilemma: My High School Bully is Asking For A Favor 30 Years Later

Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Dean. Here's his email: Hi Jaime. I need help with a personal dilemma. I haven’t thought about my high school bully for years, almost 30 years to be exact. But now, out of the blue, he has come into my life. I work at a bank, and it appears that he knows it because he’s reached out to me via email for help. It seems that he’s having financial problems and thinks that his “old pal from high school” might be in a position to help him out. On one hand…yes…I am in the position to help him out. On the other hand, this is a guy who mocked me, and make me feel horrible for four years to make himself feel like a bigger man. I felt like I let this all go a long time ago, but it’s all rushing back and I feel like either not helping him…or…helping him, and then making his life inconvenient after everything is signed…which is well within my power. Any advice? Thanks ~ Dean. Well, in the interest of being the bigger person, I would hope that Dean would help out his high school enemy, especially since that's his job. I always say you never want to become that which you despise. If Dean is unkind to this guy, he's just as bad as that guy...in my opinion. Plus it's 30 years later.
