Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Christopher and it's about being a good friend. Here's the email: Hi Jaime. Here's my dilemma. My friend recently retired and took up painting and is really excited about it. He constantly wants to show me his work and expects my enthusiastic feedback. The problem is, I really don’t care much for his art. It's just not very good. I feel kind of bad for thinking this and don't want to discourage him, but I'm also tired of pretending. Should I be straight with him or continue lying? What should I do? Thanks ~ Christopher. Being a good friend can sometime mean difficult decisions. I think I would say, I'm so glad you found something you enjoy so much. Art isn't really my thing, but I'm glad you're happy. Then you're not lying but you're also letting him know that you're not the person to come to for positive feedback. What do you think?
