Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Tim and it's about returning a gift. Here's his email: Hi Jaime. My wife ALWAYS goes overboard at Christmas. Spends waaaay too much money and buys our son waaaaay too much stuff. He's 5, for reference. This past Christmas she bought him this 'robot' and I use that term loosely. Picture a Echo View on wheels and geared towards kids. It is regularly about $250. He played with it for about 5 minutes on Christmas and hasn't even looked at it since then. Even this weekend, I fired it up and asked if he wanted to do anything with it and he said 'Not now'. If not now, when? Anyway, she got it from Amazon and the return window closes on February 3 (Saturday) and I want to send it back. She says that's mean and as soon as it goes back, he'll ask for it and she doesn't want to break his heart. What would you do? Has anyone ever returned their kid's unused Christmas gift, or am I, in fact, the worst dad? Thanks for the help ~ Tim. I don't think Tim is the worst dad. $250 is a LOT of money for a toy the child isn't even playing with. I say return it. What do you think?
