Social Dilemma: Can I Bring My 9 Y.O. Son to a Bridal Shower?

Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Jackie and it's about a bridal shower. Here's her email: Hi Jaime. I need help. My daughters and I were invited to a bridal shower. My cousin is the groom so we don’t know the bride all that well, though she seems very sweet. Kids are invited to the wedding and it seems that all the girls were invited to the shower. However, it’s not a co-Ed shower. My son is 9 years old and very jealous that my girls were invited. He says he wants to go. My husband is trying to plan a boys’ day with him but my son says he won’t go and that it’s not fair that his sisters get to go to a party. My mom thinks I should reach out to the host and ask if he can come because little kids shouldn’t feel left out. The thing is, I don’t know the host at all (bride’s sister) so I would feel awkward. Plus my husband thinks it's a bad idea because kids need to learn that different events are for different people. What would you do? Thanks for the help ~ Jackie. I think I would ask if it was okay to bring him. It's hard being a kid and feeling left out. I'm sure he won't do any harm, and I think it's fine for him to. What do you think? Let's help Jackie out and let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
