Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Charlie and it's about tipping in a place I never thought you would tip. Here's his email: Hi Jaime. I recently took a work trip to Houston and had to fly with a coworker. At the end of the flight, I saw him hand the flight attendant who was mainly in our section of the plane a $5 tip. I didn't know what he was doing. When we got off the plane, I asked him about it, and he said he always tips flight attendants because they're working hard on the flight, taking care of passengers and serving beverages and more. I said I had NEVER heard of that but he told me to ask around and that he bet he wasn't the only one who does it. Well I did, and I have several other colleagues and friends who tip flight attendants, sometimes with cash, and sometimes with gift cards to whatever coffee shop is in the airport we flew out of. This seems out of hand to me. When did we start doing this?? I think it's too much. What about you? Hope you'll use this as a dilemma. Thanks so much ~ Charlie. Wow, well I admit I've never thought about tipping a flight attendant but when you think about it, they are working hard and serving us while we're in the skies. I think I'm going to start doing this. What about you? Do you think it's too much, or that it's about time. Let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
