Social Dilemma: Does Getting Notices About Joining AARP Upset You?

Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma has to do with turning 50. Here's the email: Hi Jaime. I am so upset. I'm 49 years old and set to turn 50 in September. I have already started getting notices to join AARP! I can't believe it. I may be turning 50 but I'm not ready for AARP. I don't want the notices but it seems they just keep coming. I have two friends who turned 50 last year and they are all in with their AARP membership. They love it. They love discounts and everything else that comes with it. They say they're gonna be 50 anyway, why not take advantage of what you can get. Not me, I don't want to even see those letters together-AARP. They say I'm being silly. What do you think? Thanks ~ Emily. I understand how Emily feels, but you can't stop time, and if you're going to be 50,I say take every advantage you can. Sometimes it's hard to look aging in the face, but AARP doesn't mean old, it just means you can get some great discounts cause you've lived a life. I'm with Emily's friends. What do you think?
