Social Dilemma: My Cousin Wore The Same Dress I Did On Purpose. I'm So Mad

Today's TRY Social Dilemma is from Gianna and it's about wearing the same dress as someone else Here's her email: Hi Jaime. I'm having a real issue with my cousin about something. My cousin who shall go nameless showed up to a family fundraiser we do every year for cancer research. It’s a formal event and we have a lot of fun with it. Every year she calls or texts me and asks me what I’m wearing and I send her a picture of the dress. So I send her a picture and this year was no different. But when I showed up at the gala with my husband, she was wearing the identical dress. She acted shocked and said she didn’t mean to buy the same dress she just thought it was a similar dress. I didn’t talk to her for the rest of the evening and my other cousins were taking sides and it made the entire night horrible for me. Now all of the cousins are arguing about it and my mother and father are upset that this is even a thing. So do I have the right to be this angry because I feel like I’m never going to talk to my cousin again. Thanks ~ Gianna. Well, I disagree with Gianna. I understand being upset that her cousin bought the same exact dress, but to make that big a deal out of it? I would have had fun with it. Done one of those magazine pics, "who wore it best." and made funny faces. If the evening was supposed to be about cancer research, that alone should remind everyone what's really important and it isn't who is wearing what dress. That's my take anyway. What do you think? Please let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
